Write a commentNewry, Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership is looking to appoint a suitable supplier to deliver a Community Safety Warden Scheme across the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area from April 2021 to March 2022.
Applicants are asked to submit their Tender to Newry, Mourne and Down Council by 13 January.
The PCSP aims to work towards safer communities by delivering community focused solutions in helping to reduce crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Tender states "There is evidence of increasing levels of anti-social behaviour across the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area, with indications of seasonal increases (for example, during the Summer months) and also in a number of urban centres."
The successful provider will be required to deliver a high visibility directed patrol service in accordance with a planned schedule of deployment, aimed at reducing fear of crime and anti-social behaviour across the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area. These patrols will operate in areas as identified by the PCSP.
They will also need to provide 150 hours of Community Safety Warden patrols on a monthly basis across the entire District (including the main urban areas of Newry, Downpatrick, Warrenpoint, Newcastle & Kilkeel), whilst retaining the flexibility to allow immediate response to issues of community concern anywhere across the District. Two staff must be deployed for each patrol shift so the requirement will be to provide 300 personnel hours per month.
The provider will also need to ensure that the Scheme operates at key times in response to anti-social behaviour (i.e. evenings, weekends and during peak seasonal times such as Hallowe’en and Christmas).
It is expected that the scheme will cost approximately £53K.
