The Judges Decision
1: Tomasz Pietruszka: Judges loved the composition of this image of the Albert Basin with the tall ship docked.
2: Janine McArdle: Our Judges liked the beautiful simple composition of the swan on its nest on Newry Canal emphasised by the lush green vegetation all around.
3: Gavin Eaton: Again the Albert Basin. Lost a few points because the judges thought it looked slightly over sharpened.
4: Noel McCartan: A lovely image of Merchant's Quay reflections on Newry Canal although there seemed to be a double exposure going on with the word HOTEL appearing twice.
5: John Burns: A beautiful sunny day shot of the Albert Basin though judges weren't sure if the red lifejacket helped or took away from the image.

6: Linsey Powell: A sunny shot of Newry Canal though lens flare contributed to it looking a little bit flatter than it should.
7: Ciaran Mathers: A nice shot of a fisherman though perhaps the dull day didn't lend itself to the perfect pic.
8: Ronan McGrath: A colourful sky behind the chains at Victoria Lock but perhaps not enough going on to concentrate the eye.
9: Gerry Rice: Lovely sunny shot but lost marks for converging verticals of the Hotel. Straightening the verticals would have improved the shot.
10: Mark McLoughlin: A lovely shot that lost marks because it wasn't Newry Canal and again straightening up the Town Hall would have improved the photograph.
June Theme
The June theme for NPOY 2022 is 'Portrait' Get your entrants in. It can be a formal or informal portrait, a portrait of a person in their environment, it could even be more than one person. You decide what you want your portrait to look like. As usual get your one entry in by midnight 30 June to npoy@newry.ie
Rules reminder
It was pointed out that some people were puting their entry on their social media etc which is against the rules. No penalty was taken this time but it will be in future and you could be disqualified from a round. Also just a thought, while there is no rule against asking all your facebook friends to vote for your photograph, it's not necessarily in the spirit of the competition.
