Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady has welcomed new traffic calming measures to be introduced in Drumalane.

The Sinn Féin representative said he and his council colleagues would continue to stand with local residents to fight for the safest roads possible in the area.

“I’m delighted that these measures are finally going to be introduced,” he said.

“It has been a long, hard battle for the community there and I want to congratulate Gerry Coyle and the local community association on keeping up the fight.  Both myself and my colleague Councillor Valarie Harte have seen firsthand the efforts residents have gone to to make the area as safe as possible.  We’ve stood with them at protests, called for site meetings on their behalf and it’s tremendous to see on-the-ground, community based politics having a real effect on people’s lives.

“This is just the first step in making Drumalane’s roads safer and both myself and councillor Harte will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the residents.”
