Two men have been released on bail following an attempted burglary at a licensed premises in Belleeks during the early hours of Sunday morning, with members of the public playing a key role in alerting police to the incident.
Police received a report at approximately 6.10am on Sunday 11 January of a suspected burglary at licensed premises in the Main Street area of Belleeks. Two men were observed on the roof of the property and when alerted by members of the public, they fled the scene in a blue car.
Officers located and stopped the vehicle a short distance away. The two occupants inside, men aged 33 and 47, were arrested at the scene.
Inspector Ritchie said: "They were arrested on suspicion of offences including attempted burglary, and burglary with intent to steal and remain in custody at this time as enquiries continue."
The men were released on bail today, 12 January to allow for further police enquiries.
