Write a commentTwo males believed to be in their late teens have died in a single vehicle collision in Rostrevor just before midnight.
A car left the Kilbroney Road at around five to midnight and struck a wall. The collision caused a fire at a nearby oil tank which spread to a property.
A third male was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.
A female resident in the house was also taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
Inspector Stephen Humphries said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for witnesses to come forward. I would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the Kilbroney Road prior to the time of the collision and who may have seen a silver Volkswagen Bora on the road. The number to call is 101.”
