Write a commentThe Ulster Pipe Band Championships will take place on Saturday the 8th of August at Kilbroney Forest Park, Rostrevor.
Cllr Naomi Bailie, Chairperson, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council launched the competition this week.
The championships are being run in partnership with the Royal Scottish Pipe Bands Association, Northern Ireland Branch. They have already attracted over 50 of the world’s top bands from all across Ireland and further afield to enter the competition as well as 42 Drum Majors, all competing for the coveted Ulster Championship titles on offer
Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councilor Naomi Bailie said ‘’ The Ulster Championships, in the beautiful setting of Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor will offer a wonderful opportunity to see and hear some of the very best pipe bands in the World. She added “I am delighted that the Pipe Band Championships are returning to our Council area and am really looking forward to the event.’’
President of the RSPBANI, Winston Pinkerton said ‘’ We in the pipe band community are looking forward to another day of wonderful music and colour in Rostrevor. The Ulster Championships always is a vibrant and hugely entertaining event.’’
The Ulster Pipe Band Championships is one of the biggest competitions in the pipe band world in Ireland and it is expected to attract a large number of spectators to what is a free family day.
