The final of “The Belle of South Armagh” at the Carrickdale Hotel last weekend saw hundreds of people in attendance to see MC Barry McElduff expertly guide 9 Belles through their interviews and performance before the judge’s finally named Ursula Savage from Belleek as the winner.
Ursula, 22 years of age, is currently finishing a Masters course in Legislative Studies and Practice at Queens University Belfast. She is a fluent Irish speaker, an Irish dancer and she plays the fiddle.
Ursula won the title prize of a trip to New York and will be representing South Armagh in NYCs famous St Patrick’s Day parade. Best Escort on the night and winner of 2 All Ireland tickets was Martin Boyle from Belleek GAC.
Chairman of Belleek GAC Jodi McCreesh praised all those who were involved in the event which was designed to showcase the history, sport and musical culture of South Armagh.
“All the Belles and Escorts presented themselves so well and were wonderful ambassadors for their areas. It was a fantastic event and I’d like to thank Barry McElduff for making the night so memorable and enjoyable for everyone who attended.

The event featured a special performance from the Rooney/O Malley School of dancers and finished very aptly with an impromptu traditional music session lead by the Belles.
