A newly established Warrenpoint Harbour Authority (WHA) Community Forum has held its first meeting. The authority established the forum to interact with the community and build on the contribution that the Port makes to the local area.
The forum is made up of seventeen members who all have a strong footprint in Warrenpoint and are well placed to provide valuable insights and recommendations on the Port’s activities and how it can positively impact the local community. The members provisionally elected James Mc Kevitt as its first Chair.
Central to the Forum’s focus will be community support, the environment and sustainability, education and skills development, and WHA’s jobs and economic contribution to the Warrenpoint area and beyond.
Chair of the Warrenpoint Harbour Authority Dr Gerard O’Hare welcomed the formation of the Forum and looked forward to its contribution in the months ahead.
Dr O’Hare said, “The Forum reflects our commitment to work more closely with the Warrenpoint community and create a channel through which local residents, businesses and a broad range of community stakeholders can engage with us and support us in further building our contribution to society.
“We appreciate the time and commitment that members are making to participate in the Forum and we very much welcome their input and contribution as we embark on this journey.”
The Community Forum will meet again in the next few weeks.
