Warrenpoint Harbour Authority have released a statement saying that odours coming from the facility are not acceptable and add that they are working to address the issue.
It follows complaints regarding smells from telegraph poles stored at the port several weeks ago as well as ongoing complaints over odours coming from bales of RDF from Re-Gen Waste on the site. WHA have said they will not be importing the poles again.
A statement issued on Behalf of Dr Gerard O’Hare, Chair of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority said "Odours coming from the Port are not acceptable and the Board is engaging closely with senior management to ensure this issue is fully addressed. We have expedited the removal of telegraph poles from the Port, with all remaining poles having been removed. We will not be importing this product again through Warrenpoint Port.
"We are also meeting with Re-Gen to discuss odour concerns and to agree a solution. The Board will continue to engage constructively with the local community, elected representatives and all stakeholders on this issue."
