Wheelie Bins to be removed for rebranding

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council came into being at Midnight last night and it really is a case of out with the old and in with the new with super quick signage replacements on all major council premises including the Newry and Mourne Council HQ at Monaghan Row and the depot at Greenbank Industrial Estate.

The work saw the old traditional round logo replaced with the new ‘squarer’ more modern branding.

The new fledgling council are determined to make an impression with their new branding as quickly as possible.

One of the first changes was the launch of the new Newry, Mourne and Down Council website and you can check it out at www.newrymourneanddown.org

This will continue at a pace and it’s hoped that by the end of April, the move to the new branding will be 100% complete.

As part of the changeover existing Newry and Mourne District Council and Down District Council markings on residential wheelie bins must be replaced with the newer more colourful logo from Newry, Mourne and Down as soon as possible and work is to start on this immediately after the Easter holidays.

Spokesperson for the new Super Council, Finn Ladden explained the operation “In order to do this with the least inconvenience to residents it’s been decided that as well as emptying residents bins as usual on their normal collection day, the council will collect the bin at the same time. We will then return it two weeks later with the new colourful branding added. The following week the second bin will be collected (If yours hasn’t been stolen) and the same procedure carried out.”

Waste Disposal Technical Support Spokesperson Mark Myword added “The removal of the existing branding is quite an advanced technique involving a state of the art Poora-Fill Plastic Weld procedure that safely melts just the surface of the high density plastic, reforming it into a smooth surface. We then take a 2mm transfer with the new logo and heat seal it on to the bin lid and bobs your uncle”

As a bonus the bins will be returned cleaned and disinfected and all residents will be entered into a free draw with the winner walking away with a years supply of wet wipes and a Newry, Mourne and Down Keyring (Sure to be a collectors item).
