The final weekend on 21 and 22 December, offers two special days filled with meditation, reflection, mindfulness and ritual, which will help connect the cycles and rhythms of the body with the natural world around us.
Solstice means ‘to stand still’ and on Friday 21 December, holistic therapist and wellbeing coach, Joanna Callan and Bluebell Glamping, Mullaghbawn have teamed up to provide a wonderful opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of the festive season. The day will be spent immersed in nature in one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Ireland.
On 22 December, Ring of Gullion ambassadors, Ann Ward and Gary Martin will facilitate a fully immersive Winter Solstice evening beginning with a tour up to the South Cairn on Slieve Gullion. Participants will experience the sacred Solstice light through a special mediation and afterwards enjoy some rustic fare and good company in Meigh in a World War II World Nissen hut, taking some time and space for personal reflection to develop personal goals and affirmations for the year ahead. The evening will finish with a healing white light meditation and body scan.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin said, “Very often people look to the eastern or Native American traditions for spirituality and yet we forget that the ancient Celts were one of the most spiritually minded people. Their rituals, wisdom and celebrations are embedded within our lands. This weekend promises to be a fantastic two days of mediation and personal reflection delivered by experienced facilitators, who have a strong connection to the area. Join them to reflect on the year just passed and what the light of the New Year might hold.”
