Warrenpoint played host to artist Kevin Collins and guests at the weekend as he launched his first studio space and art gallery on Church Street.
Over 50 guests attended the Gallery opening, which showcases Collin’s own work alongside guest artists.
Born and raised in the Mournes, Kevin has a distinctive and unique style of painting influenced by his work, over two decades, as a handloom weaver and textile designer of linen.
Collins portrays his vision of his surroundings in a series of horizontal and vertical brushstrokes, which create a textural and energetic artwork. The fabric-like appearance of his work is intentional.

His palette is a play of contrasts, from dark indigos, haunting pale tones of ochre, to the earthy hues of raw sienna. He’s best known for his night cityscapes and his work is displayed in private and public collections internationally.
Kevin said: “It’s really thrilling to see my name above the door after all the lead up and work to get the building ready. It’s a beautiful space here, beside Warrenpoint Park and Carlingford Lough and can’t wait to take up residence and begin working in the studio. I’ve been really fortunate to meet some amazing local artists who been so encouraging.”
Kevin Collins Art will also host a selection of curated guest artist exhibitions throughout the year commencing with the Bronze Sculptures of internationally renowned Newry–born artist Anna Campbell.
The Gallery will be open Wednesday- Sunday at 58 Church St, Warrenpoint, BT34 3NH
