Why not take a visit to Newry and Mourne Museum this Bank Holiday Monday. The Museum will be open 8 May from 10.00am until 4.30pm, with lots of activities for their younger guests.
Staff will host two shield arts and crafts workshops for children aged 5 to 11. Children will learn more about heraldry, the medieval system of identification used during battle, which developed into the art form used in creating family coats of arms and crests. They will get the chance to create a new family crest (or use the old one) and make their own shield.
The sessions at, 10.30am until 12pm and again at 1.30 until 3pm, are free of charge, but numbers are limited and pre-booking of places is advisable. An adult must accompany children. If you wish to book or you require more information, please email Declan.Carroll@nmandd.org
For the weekend that's in it there will also be a Coronation hunt around the Museum galleries so children will have a chance to see the Museums ‘regal’ artefacts.
For opening hours, information on events, upcoming exhibitions and other services you can telephone them on 0330 137 4422.
