A special presentation was made at a celebratory event last week to Alma Brown, President of Newry Musical Feis in recognition of her outstanding service to the Feis over many years.
The award was marked with a certificate and a personally signed letter from Theresa May, Prime Minister recognising Alma as the UK's 1146th Points of Light.
Feis Administrator Dr Mary Goss passed on a statement from the Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport.

"I'm delighted to confirm that the Prime Minister would like to confirm Alma's long-standing support of the Newry Musical Feis with a Points of Light Award.
"The Prime Minister's daily Points of Light award recognises outstanding individual volunteers, people who are making positive changes in their communities and around the world.
"The awards are a way in which the Prime Minister says "thank you" for your outstanding service. This is a daily award and Alma will be the winner for Monday 18th March"
