Write a commentNewry writer Seán Maguire will appear on a South African Online Radio Talk station this Sunday 7 February at 10am.
The station broadcasts globally on WWW.KINDASOUND.ORG and has presenters in the UK. Seán will feature on Poetry with Mo a weekly programme presented by Liverpool based writer Maureen Hewitt. Work published recently by Seán include Yeah magazine 2020 and a short story Window Pain featured in From The Plough to the Stars: An Anthology of Working People’s Prose from Contemporary Ireland, Culture Matters 2020.
Seán explained the background to the radio interview "During the past few weeks, I have engaged with a Liverpool creative writing project run by Care Merseyside. One of the participants, Maureen Hewitt presents a Sunday morning poetry show and she invited me to guest on her programme. The theme for Sunday’s show is Music and memories. I will read three poems and Maureen will play three songs linked to my writing by The Clash, David Bowie and John Lennon."
Seán added "I am delighted to avail of this opportunity. Last year I had to postpone writing workshops in Newry organised through my writing4change project due to the Covid 19 pandemic. In the meantime, I have connected online with writers all over Ireland, the UK and further afield exchanging ideas and advice on writing styles, content, and publishing.
"The pandemic has impacted massively on the mental health of people across the globe. I strongly believe that all genres of writing offer helpful outlets to promote positive health and wellbeing."

Seán’s poetry collection Harvest Soul was published by Sessyu Press in 1998. In 2017, Seán published, a poetry collection For Those Left Behind.
His work was also published by Poetry NI, Poetry in Motion, nine muse poetry, Honest Ulsterman, Pangolin Review and The Children of the Nation, An Anthology of Working People’s Poetry from Contemporary Ireland, Culture Matters 2019.
