Thirteen Local Bars have teamed up touring American Country Music to Newry City this Independence Weekend
Newry Goes Nashville will run from 4 July to 6 July with a full weekend of live American country music, themed drinks, and all-American vibes in many of Newry's most popular venues.
Timed to coincide with the Fourth of July celebrations, the idea was simple — take the buzz of American Independence Weekend and turn Newry into a little slice of Nashville for three days of music, craic, and community spirit.
What started as a few venues bouncing around an idea has turned into a full-city celebration, with bars teaming up to create something fresh, fun, and totally different for the people of Newry.
“It’s been great to see so many bars pulling in the same direction,” said Garry Meehan from The Phoenix Bar.
“We’re not trying to compete with each other — we’re just trying to create something people will love. Newry’s been a sleeping giant for too long - and we want to change that. There's serious potential for in this city when people come together, and this is just the start.”
Each venue will bring its own slice of the Nashville experience — from live bands straight out of the American country scene to line dancing, themed cocktails, cowboy hats, and plenty of denim. Whether you're a lifelong country music fan or just out for the craic, the weekend promises something for everyone.
Punters can expect a packed schedule of acts, venue lineups, and special promos closer to the time — but the buzz very much starts now.
