The Newpoint Players Youth Group's summer scheme came to fruition at the weekend when the young actors staged the premiere performance of Sean Treanor's Orphans at the Sticky Fingers theatre in Newry.

A cast of 27 saw some incredible acting from a crew that was mostly new to acting. While the play could certainly have been very dark Treanor purposely gave it a positive twist where he could, keeping in mind his young crew. Someone quipped on the night that they should have got autographs off everyone as no doubt following the Newpoint tradition, some of them will be famous in years to come. From the quality of acting on display, that could be quite some number!
