A new podcast rooted in Newry identity, Irish identity, allyship, and inclusive storytelling has launched this month.
'Proud Craic' founder Damien McCaul is from Newry who has moved back home.
Damien said "I launched this project to spotlight voices that matter, blending humour, heritage, and heart. Its aim is to foster allyship within the community I left long ago in order to be true to myself."
The first 'Proud Craic' episodes feature Jenny Deane, the head of Newry Pride who has a busy weekend ahead of her.
Jenny speaks in the podcast about her part in forming the Newry LGBT+ Women's Group and how it led to the return of the popular Newry Pride event which takes place this Saturday, 30 August. "The old Newry Pride and rainbow committee had sort of disappeared here a bit and I think everybody was waiting for somebody to bring it back, and we were like, maybe this time this somebody is us!"
The podcast is now live on Spotify at spotify.com and YouTube at youtu.be
