A brand new theatre group has launched in Newry and they are currently looking cast members for their debut production.
Common Ground Theatre is founded by Shelby Connolly and made up of four local women in their 20's, who are passionate about creating thought-provoking and relevant stories with a focus on queer, feminist, and contemporary issues.
The four are Stage Manager Sarah Lappin, Costume/ Set Design Ciarrai Lavery, Technical Director Philomena Niluain and Director/ Writer Shelby Connolly.
The women have just announced their debut production titled "Almost Functional", which is written by Connolly as her first-ever piece. This production aims to bring fresh, bold, and authentic voices to the stage, something they feel is much needed in the Newry dramatic arts scene.
As an independent new theatre group, they are fundraising to help cover the costs of venues, costumes, set design, and everything else needed to bring the show to life. You can learn more about them and support their project through their www.gofundme.com page or check out their Instagram page @commonground_theatre
