Bikes and Beats has become firmly established as one of Iúr Cinn Fleadh's most fun events, taking participants on a safe chilled out cycle around Newry city. Generously sponsored by Newry BID it's your chance to reclaim the streets of our city for you and your family for two wonderful hours on Sunday 24 August at 2pm. It's just one of nearly 100 fleadh gigs in Newry between 21 and 25 August.
For anyone who doesn't know the event, it's a fun slow and easy bike ride around the city for a couple of hours following and singing along to Ruairi Cahill, aka DJ Cú Chulainn pumping out the tunes.
It's the fourth Bikes and Beats on the Street, and it gets more and more popular each year. Starting with just over 20 participants in 2022 it rose to around 80 last year.
The fleadh committee are determined to have well over a hundred cyclists at the 2025 event so are calling out to everyone to get on your bike and come out on 24 August ... and it's completely free.
It doesn't matter what age you are! Last year participant age ranged from 4 to 90 so there's no excuse! Get that puncture fixed and that chain oiled and get on your bike.
Enthusiastically supported by Newry Business Improvement District, participants stop for a free coffee or ice cream along the way.
Derry man Ciaran O'Hara from The Bike General has been providing specially adapted bicycles for the DJ and speakers since the event started, to make sure those beats can't be missed.
Bikes and Beats starts on Sunday 24 August at 2pm at the entrance to the Greenway at the Albert Basin.
