Children from Windsor Hill Primary School and St Patrick's Primary School in Newry got a chance to let their imaginations run wild, at Sticky Fingers Arts on Tuesday during a fun filled few hours of play in the lead up to International Children's Day. The PSNI were on hand to stop traffic outside the Edward St premises when the children arrived in their buses to ensure a safe arrival.
Speaking about what was on offer for the children Grainne Powell, CEO, Sticky Fingers said "They're going to be exploring making living things, so butterflies and bumble bees and everything that we have in our garden, alongside exploring the Imaginarium, all areas, the Luminarium, the sensory spaces and engaging in imaginative role play and play."
Like a starting pistol going off, no time was wasted by the enthusiastic youngsters and when they went in the door of Sticky Fingers they got straight down to work or rather play, checking out the many fantastic areas including an imagination lab, a room of mirrors, fairytale houses, hi tech spacecraft and of course the incredible luminarium.
Powell added "Today is a celebration of children, as part of a run up to International Children's Day, where we are welcoming children from different communities together to engage in meaningful play, building new friendships, making new connections and having a real good creative experience."
Sticky Fingers is hosting a free International Children's Day event at McClelland Park in Edward Street, Newry Saturday 31 May from 1pm to 5pm. Get along for arts & crafts, playing traditional games, music and stories, bring a picnic, bring your friends and join them in celebrating children.
