Newry Youth Performing Arts Take to Stage With Irish Premiere of Newsies

NEWRY Youth Performing Arts (NYPA) are back where they belong in Newry Town Hall with their latest production due to hit the stage at the end of this month. 

The super-talented team are bringing the smash-hit Broadway musical Newsies to the Town Hall from Thursday 30 January to Saturday 1 February 2025. It will be the Irish Premiere of the production and it marks a major milestone for NYPA as they celebrate their fifth anniversary of bringing exceptional community musical theatre to the region.

This production of Newsies features the incredible talents of NYPA’s Young Adults and Seniors, showcasing their dedication and hard work in bringing this vibrant musical to life.

Based on the true story of the 1899 New York City newsboys’ strike, Newsies is a high-energy, family-friendly production filled with rousing songs, incredible dance numbers, and an inspiring story of young people fighting for justice. Featuring beloved songs by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, including 'Seize the Day' and 'Carrying the Banner' this show will captivate audiences of all ages.

NYPA has become a cornerstone of Newry’s cultural scene, offering a platform for local talent to shine while producing professional-quality performances. Over the past five years, the group has grown from strength to strength, earning acclaim for their creativity, dedication, and passion for the arts.

With continued uncertainty around when Newry Town Hall will close during the building of the new Theatre NYPA will return to The Marketplace in Armagh in April 2025 with their production of Shrek the Musical.
