She was held together by strings of gold
Some parts new, others old
Their directions varied and intertwined
Deep and internal and outwardly lined
They glistened loudly and whispered in pain
Ragged and rugged, no two were the same
They carried tears and screams, lost hope and despair
Binded together in golden streams of repair
I traced them with my finger, when she would let me
Illuminating fragments of this whole and broken beauty
They fueled her wildness and dimmed her self-belief
Tug of war between strength and grief
She was held together by strings of gold
Some parts new, others old
Their directions varied and intertwined
Deep and internal and outwardly lined
