St Patrick's Lane
St Patrick's Lane

On a lane from ancient times taking you from eight mile bridge with many hedge rows.

Many Clonduffian souls walked by over the centuries knowing that as the red robin nested and sang to the reflection of yellow daffodil light from the sunshine glow.

The remains of the foundations of Clonduff church which was burnt by Oliver Cromwell around 1650.

Magic flows in the air knowing a saint walked past bringing a staff along with a pocket full of green glowing Shamrocks from Downpatrick's trail.

A true tale did arise when foundation stones were laid forming a solid rock where the Clonduff founding church was to be built.

The power of a monk's thorn stick no Ox did interfere as the spirit of the Clonduffian home was fully formed.

United by a holy Clonduff shamrock in which our faith in each other and a higher being up above unites our people as it transcends across the centuries and generations.

Not even Cromwell's forces could extinguish our spiritual home as our faith will outlast and outshine any aggressive force.

For the message brought by our saviour who walked down that lane symbolised with the shamrock showed us all our true vine.

That no matter what when the yellow sunshine light is out, we will truly be in delight and feel the energy of our people who have gone before us.

We will always be eternally grateful to the man who brought us that Clonduff shamrock as he walked down Saint Patrick's Lane.
