A group of musicians from south Armagh based Traditional Arts Partnership had an interesting collaboration at a festival event in Armagh earlier this month, when they shared the bill with a musical act from Senegal.
TAP were 'virtually' joined by Senegalese drumming ensemble Keur Gu Rutmo from Dakar at the AE Russell Festival in Aonach Mhacha.
The event hosted the launch of a short film produced by Ruairi Cahill from Funk Soul Media. The short film narrated the Carrowmore poem from George AE Russell with verses spoken in English by Patrick O'Donnell, Chair of the AE Society and in French by Laura Ostertag and a Hip-Hop verse from Cú Chulainn. The short film was illustrated by music from TAPS and Keur Gu Rutmo.

The film showing was followed by a set from TAP and then a live video link saw Abdou Sene and Keur Gu Rutmo perform a drum set live from a street in Dakar straight to Armagh city - A small world indeed! The night was finished with a Ceili and some songs.
