Newry's Susan McCann, is celebrating 50 years in the music business this year, and the country legend is set to appear alongside Daniel O'Donnell in a new series of TG4's popular country music show Opry le Daniel, filmed at the Millennium Forum in Derry next month.
TG4's highest rating country music concert series returns to the Millennium Forum for three nights of shows on 30 June, 1 July and 2 July, recorded before a live audience with two concerts each evening.
Susan will appear in the Classic Country show on 2 July, joined on stage by Brendan Quinn, her daughter Linda and granddaughter Sinead Hegarty.
The series opens on 30 June with a New Opry show featuring Damian Davis (Co. Monaghan), Effie Neill (Co. Cork) and Ruairidh Gray from the Island of South Uist, Outer Hebrides. The second show that evening, Country n Irish, features Margo (Co. Monaghan), New York-based Andy Cooney and Caitriona Ní Cheannabháin (Co. Galway).
On 1 July, Daniel will be joined for a Country and Folk show by folk legend Seán Keane (Co. Galway) and Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh, Irish fiddler and lead vocalist with Altan. The second show that evening features contemporary country artists Donna Taggart (Co. Tyrone), Rachel Goode (Co. Galway) and Simon Casey (Co. Offaly).
The final show of the three nights on 2 July will feature Michael English (Co. Laois), Olivia Douglas (Co. Offaly) and David James (Derry).
Now in its sixteenth season, Opry le Daniel has previously welcomed internationally renowned artists including Charley Pride, Crystal Gayle and Rita Coolidge, alongside many of Ireland's best-loved performers. The show is produced by Big Mountain Productions for TG4.
Daniel O'Donnell said: "I'm delighted once again to be returning to the stage of the Millennium Forum in Derry to record another series of Opry le Daniel for TG4. These shows have proved to be very, very well received by audiences all over the country, and we are just delighted to get the chance to do another series."
He added: "This is extra special for me because these shows are some of only a few concerts that I'm doing during my break. So, join us at the Millennium Forum on June 30th and the first and second of July for Opry le Daniel."
