The Book: Harvest the Light – An Anthology of Creativity
Harvest the Light is a unique publication, celebrating in prose, poetry, along with photographs/images, by eleven local writers known as the Wordsmiths who meet regularly in Teac Mallon in Meigh Co. Armagh.
These writers will be paying homage to the unique landscape of Oriel, southeast Ulster, and the foothills of Slieve Gullion and in particular its people. Harvest the Light will bring back cherished memories of times past, along with plenty of laughter and nostalgic moments, with reminders of the world we live in today. Readings will also pay tribute to the oral storytelling tradition of the area.
The eleven contributors to Harvest the Light are;- Brigid Brady, Eileen Beamish, Liz McMonagle, Mairead Breen, Marcella McBride, Matt McEvoy, Mary Cunningham, Paddy Creedon, Patrick Murray, Rosemary Tumilty and Sinead Mitchell.
All proceeds from the sale of our book ‘Harvest the Light’ are going to the two Suicide Prevention and Support Charities – PIPS www.pipshopeandsupport.org and Pieta www.pieta.ie.
Our plan is to make a Christmas 2025 donation of £1500 to each Charity based on our sales forecast and the generous pubic support and goodwill.
How you can help - A Donation of £10/ €12 gets you a copy of this publication.
The Wordsmiths would like to acknowledge the warm welcome one always gets from the wonderful staff at Newry Library and the on-going creativity and enjoyment provided at the regular Poetry & Pancakes events there.
