Rising star Aoife Hughes, from Newry has landed a lead role in an upcoming BBC Sci-Fi drama.
Hughes who is a member of the critically acclaimed performance industry accelerator, Stagebox, will be starring in the new highly anticipated Sci-Fi drama, Silverpoint.
Silverpoint, which aired on Sunday 6th March 2022, is the thrilling new Sci-Fi series which follows four kids who discover something mysterious in the woods that launches them into a spiral of chaos and adventure. Aoife will be playing ‘Bea,’ one of the four lead roles in the action-packed programme.
But whilst this is Aoife’s BBC screen debut, it’s certainly not the first of her performance career. Prior to this role, the young actress played ‘Cuckoo’ in the festive Feature Film, A Christmas Star (2015), alongside Pierce Brosnan and Robert James Collier , and was cast as the lead role of Mary Lennox in the West End concert of The Secret Garden(2020) alongside Ramin Karimloo and Lucie Jones.
Aoife is a member and client of the award-winning talent management and film, television, and musical theatre training programme, Stagebox. Traveling from her hometown, Aoife trains at the London Stagebox base, where she has access to world class coaching and unrivalled opportunities within the industry.
Many young performers training with Stagebox have already landed dream roles on stage and screen just like Aoife, thanks to the expert training and management. Just some of the roles secured over the last 12 months have been in projects such as Peaky Blinders (Netflix), Sex Education (Netflix), Ted Lasso (Apple TV+), Avenue 5 (HBO), The Power (Amazon Studios), Pistol (Disney +) and BAFTA-nominated anthology Superdad (Channel 4). Stagebox management clients also consistently star in West End and UK tour musicals including Frozen, Annie, Matilda the Musical, School of Rock and Marry Poppins to name a few.
