The One to Watch Award was presented to ABP for putting sustainability at the heart of its business strategy, viewing it as an opportunity rather than a threat to business. The judges said that the ABP Angus Youth Challenge was a superb example of how an organisation can give unique opportunities to post-primary school pupils, providing an immersive experience of working in the agri-food sector.
ABP was also Highly Commended in the ‘Responsible Product/Service’ category for its sustainable manufacturing processes and a highly efficient business model which enables the company to minimise its waste and reduce its carbon footprint. The company has achieved quadruple accreditation from the Carbon Trust in recognition of the progress it is making in reducing its environmental impact.
More than 600 business people from across Northern Ireland attended the Business in the Community Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the International Convention Centre in Belfast on Thursday 30 May event to see Northern Ireland’s leading responsible companies recognised for outstanding contributions to their people, the planet and the places where they operate.
