A new initiative called Deli Littles has been launched to help provide regular snacks to schoolchildren. The programme is the brainchild of Warrenpoint-based food company DELI LITES Ireland and is part of its ongoing commitment to community well-being.
The first phase of the programme has been rolled out in partnership with Dromore Road Primary School, located near the company’s headquarters. Staff at the school are now receiving bi-weekly deliveries of sandwiches and snacks to support children who might otherwise go hungry.
Brian Reid, Co-Founder and CEO of DELI LITES Ireland, explained: “The programme aims to help children achieve their full potential, a goal that everyone at our company is passionate about supporting.”
Deli Littles is aligned with the company’s mission to “Do Right with Every Bite” by addressing food security for children while fuelling education. Following its success at Dromore Road Primary, plans are underway to expand the programme to other schools across Northern Ireland in the next year.
Principal Sharon McGrath welcomed the initiative explaining that it: "will have a great impact on many children in Warrenpoint and beyond.”
The company produces over 30 million food products annually, serving markets across the globe. In 2022, it became the first sandwich manufacturer worldwide to achieve BCorp certification, recognising its efforts in using business as a force for good.
