The CEO of Newry Chamber of Commerce Tony McKeown is stepping down from his post at the end of the summer to pursue other interests.
Speaking his time at the Chamber, Mr McKeown who has been CEO of the Chamber for two years said “I would like to thank the Newry Chamber Board, Council, Members and Partners for their support over the last two years.
"It has been a privilege to represent such a vibrant business community across the Greater Newry region. I wish the members well in the future.”
Mr McKeown has made a very important contribution to Newry and the Chamber in his time there, taking members on visits to successful businesses in the area and championing the Chamber Business Awards. He organised health and wellbeing walks as well as members walks around the city giving updates on various projects and passionately promoted Newry city any time he could.
Julie Gibbons, Newry Chamber President said, “It is with regret that the Board of Newry Chamber accepted Tony’s resignation this week. Tony’s passion for Newry and the local area is infectious and I have no doubt that he will continue to be involved in the local business community. The Board, Council, Membership, and Management of Newry Chamber wish Tony well in his future endeavours.
“Newry Chamber is a proud and strong organisation with a 200-year history. We have a full programme of events from September to December with the NI Small Business Conference, the President’s Banquet, and the Chamber AGM amongst other activity, which we look forward to. We will be putting interim management measures in place in the short term before we embark on a recruitment process.”
Newry Chamber currently has more than 300 members and provides lobbying, events, and networking services in the Greater Newry area.
