Newry-based MyLife Bathrooms has announced plans to construct a massive new 105,000 sf ft purpose-built warehouse and office facility in the city. The company are one of the largest suppliers of high-quality bathroom products across Ireland and the UK.
The facility at Greenbank Industrial Estate will become one of the largest commercial buildings in Newry city. It's the business’s third premises move in just 12 years as MyLife continues to expand rapidly across Ireland and the UK. Having outgrown its current premises at Greenbank, MyLife’s new building will occupy a significant site at the Warrenpoint-end of the Greenbank Estate.
Founded by Andrew O’Brien in 2013, MyLife’s new building will span over three floors, consisting of 85,000 sq ft of warehousing and 30,000 sq ft of office space and a new showroom. The new building is expected to open in Summer 2026 and will strengthen MyLife’s operational capabilities, supporting its long-term growth ambitions.
“From a team of four back in 2013, we now employ over 130 people across three sites- here in Newry, in Wishaw, Scotland, and Southam, England, and today marks a new milestone in the MyLife journey,” comments Andrew O'Brien, Founder of MyLife.
Andrew continues: “MyLife has consistently grown over the past 12 years, in large part due to the quality of our products, strength of our designs, and our exceptional team. This investment reflects our confidence in the business as we move forward.
“The new facilities will deliver capacity to grow in the years ahead, enabling the business to meet increasing customer demand, create new job opportunities, and improve our business-to-business customer experience as we maintain our exceptional standards of customer care."
With the business since 2018, Grainne Fearon, Managing Director of MyLife adds: “Investing in this new warehouse and office facility is a key step in strengthening our market position.
“The additional space will allow us to broaden our product range and, as a purpose-built facility, we have designed the building to include a showroom for our retailer customers, a technical and testing area, and a brand-new training academy, reinforcing MyLife's commitment to excellence and product development.”
Design
The new MyLife building has been designed by Tania and Colin Dalton from CD Architects, with Kelly Brothers from Warrenpoint appointed as the lead contractors. Work has already commenced at the site and it’s envisaged that the MyLife team will move into the new building next summer, 2026.
Colin Dalton from CD Architects says: "Today is the culmination of seven years of efforts in bringing this building to fruition. We’ve worked alongside Andrew to ensure the new MyLife building is built for the future using sustainable building practices and to see the site start to take shape is incredible.
“MyLife’s new HQ will become a flagship building in Newry city due to its scale and location. Occupying a prime site at the Warrenpoint end of Greenbank Industrial Estate, the building will be clearly visible to commuters travelling along the A2 Warrenpoint Road.”
Concluding, Ronan Kelly, Managing Director of Kelly Brothers LLP adds: “We are thrilled to commence construction on the new MyLife storage and distribution centre in Newry - a flagship project that represents a significant investment in the region's economy.
“As a fellow family-run business within South Down, we are proud to lead in the delivery of this state-of-the-art facility, constructed to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.”
Andrew O’Brien launched MyLife in 2013 following years of experience in bathroom retail. Through his frustrations with the supply and delivery of sanitaryware, Andrew spotted a gap in the market for a customer-focused, quality bathroom supplier that could offer a reliable delivery service.

Mourne Dew Distillery’s Pooka Hazelnut Poitín Liqueur has been crowned Irish Drink of the year 2025 at the Irish Food Writers’ Guild Food Awards for 2025.
Distilling is in Donal Farrell’s blood, but he is the first generation of his family who has made a living from making poitín… well at least 'legally'!
“One of my grandfathers was born in 1859, he obviously passed before I was born, so I never knew him, but he had a reputation as a poitín-maker – as did his father – so I thought it would be nice to come full circle and start a distillery of my own,” he says with a twinkle in his eye.
And that’s exactly what he did; founding Mourne Dew Distillery in 2017. At Mourne Dew Distillery, Donal and his team produce a variety of whiskies, gins, vodkas, poitíns and liqueurs.
Last week, Donal and the Mourne Dew team were honoured at the annual Irish Food Writers Guild Awards for their The Pooka Poitín Hazelnut liqueur. Donal says he and the Mourne Distillery team were overwhelmed and delighted with the win (another in the bag for their already award-winning line of spirits). The Guild praised this liqueur for its smooth, delicate flavour; derived entirely from Irish hazelnuts.
The IFWG Food Awards are unique in that no business or individual can enter, nor do they know if they have been nominated for an award. The Guild is the sole nominating and decision-making body whose members nominate and anonymously buy products for tasting. Proportional representation voting is undertaken at a Guild tasting meeting. Winning products must be produced in Ireland and the main ingredient must be Irish grown or produced.
The Pooka Hazelnut Poitín Liqueur combines rich, nutty flavors with hints of vanilla, chocolate, and cream, offering a smooth, innovative twist on traditional poitín. Recognised for its exceptional quality, it’s a standout among Mourne Dew’s renowned range of spirits and liqueurs.
Donal Farrell, founder of Mourne Dew Distillery, used to be a barrister and some 14 years ago was involved in a trial containing DNA evidence which had been obtained by cold distillation in a forensic laboratory in such a way as to avoid damaging the delicate and complex DNA molecule. He became fascinated with the subject and it inspired him to apply this laboratory technique to the commercial distillation of spirits.
The Mourne Dew cold distillation process offers significant advantages over conventional hot distillation. Energy consumption is much less, chemical separation during distillation is much better thus yielding purer distillates and higher yields, molecular decomposition as a result of heat and pressure is practically eliminated so that distillates retain the fresh flavour of their original botanicals. These are the reasons why Mourne Dew has developed a reputation for the high-quality distillates that go into their finished products.
The award winning Mourne Dew range includes vodkas, gins, whiskies, poitíns and liqueurs. The Pooka Hazelnut Poitín Liqueur has now won the IFWG annual award for best drink. A Pooka is a mischievous spirit in Irish mythology and has had a long association with alcohol, hence the naming of the brand. One of the world’s top restaurants, the three Michelin starred “Core By Clare Smyth” restaurant in London now features the Pooka on its cocktail menu.
Pooka Hazelnut Poitín Liqueur won a silver award at the London Spirits Competition and was runner-up in the Blas na hEireann awards in 2019, being beaten into second place by another Mourne Dew product, their Pooka Poitín Blend No1!
Una Fitzgibbon, Bord Bia Director of Marketing said: "Bord Bia is proud to support the Irish Food Writer's Guild and its annual awards, which celebrate the excellence and integrity of Irish food producer all across the island of Ireland. These awards are a testament to the dedication and hard work of producers who uphold the highest standards in quality and sustainability. Bord Bia values the opportunity to collaborate with the Guild in recognising and promoting these outstanding contributions to the Irish food sector. The IFWG plays a vital role in highlighting the achievements of these producers, and we commend this year’s eight recipients for their leadership and commitment to sustainable food production."
The IFWG Food Awards ceremony took place at ANANDA Restaurant in Dublin, chosen for its consistent use of high-quality Irish produce, where guests enjoyed a lunch featuring the winning produce, which was created by chef Sunuraj Thadiyil Kuttappan and Conor Spacey, who won a 2024 IFWG Food award for his notable contribution to Irish food.

100ml Pooka roast hazelnut poitín plus extra for glazing

Turn on oven to 150C (Fan) and add 125 gms soft dark brown sugar and a large beaten egg to the fruit mix.
Sieve together 2 tsps mixed spice and 1 tsp baking powder with 235 gms self-raising flour and add to fruit mix. Stir well until everything is mixed and transfer into a greased and lined 2lb loaf tin.
Bake for 60 mins.
Remove from oven and tin, and brush liberally with the hazelnut poitín.
Allow to cool and when cold brush again more generously with a good dollop of the poitín.
It will keep well if wrapped in cling-film or foil. Enjoy!

M&S acknowledged this year's Mother's day with a story of local mother and daughter Dorothy Taylor and Lindsey Malone who have made the UK retail business their workplace.
For Dorothy, it has been more than just a workplace – it’s been a second home for 27 years. She first joined the team in January 1998 and played a key role in opening the original M&S store in Buttercrane Shopping Centre store before transitioning to The Quays. Over the years, she’s become a pillar of the Clothing & Home department, while also taking on the crucial role of Safety Officer for the past 25 years. Her influence extends far beyond her store, as she helped shape M&S in Northern Ireland, supporting renewals and new store openings across the region, including Bangor, Craigavon, Armagh and Aldergrove.
Inspired by her mum’s dedication, Lindsey started her own M&S journey in 2005 at the Malone store on Lisburn Road. She later transferred to Newry, where she had the unique opportunity to work alongside her mother – an experience that deepened their bond and cemented their joint love of the retailer. Lindsey’s career quickly flourished, progressing from Section Manager to Store Manager roles in Lisburn, Upper Newtownards Road and Armagh, before making the move to Manchester, where she led teams as a Store Manager and Deputy Store Manager.
One of their most cherished memories was when Dorothy flew to Manchester to help Lindsey set up the relocated Macclesfield store – a moment that perfectly captured the love and support between them, both as colleagues and as mother and daughter.
Now back in Northern Ireland, Lindsey is at the helm of the Omagh team as Store Manager, while Dorothy continues to be a source of inspiration at Newry. Though they may work in different locations, their shared love for the store keeps them connected.
Reflecting on their journey, Dorothy shared: "Working at M&S has been a joy and having Lindsey follow in my footsteps makes it even more special. No matter where we are, M&S is always part of our family – in our careers, in our homes, and on our dinner table! I feel so lucky to share this journey with my daughter, especially on Mother’s Day!.”
For Lindsey the business has been a constant in her life, shaping her career and strengthening her relationship with her mum. She added: "Growing up, M&S was always part of our lives – from school uniforms to Christmas dinners, and now our careers. I’ve always admired my mum’s dedication and I love that we can share this experience together. Even now, we’re always sharing recommendations – we’ll send each other links and ask, ‘What do you think of this?’ It’s like having a personal shopper who just happens to be my mum!”
Ryan Lemon, Regional Manager for M&S in Northern Ireland, added: "Dorothy and Lindsey’s story is a beautiful example of how M&S careers span generations, and we’re delighted to celebrate them this Mother’s Day."

It's been quite the journey for one County Down farm in just two generations. Farmland near Mayobridge that was regularly ploughed with horses is now an 18 hole golf course kept in trim with state of the art robotic mowers.
When Joe Fegan decided to turn his farm in Mayobridge into a Golf Course, many around the area thought he was crazy. Many years of planning with son Shane, also a keen golfer, digger work, building tees, greens, drainage, seeding and planting, all the hard work by Joe finally paid off. He had built a golf course, with his own hands and own money, an amazing feat in what should have been his retirement years.
From humble beginnings a 9 Hole Golf Course was opened in 1999, Joe and his brother Fred cut the fairways with old trail gang mowers behind tractors and old jeeps. Things have certainly moved on since then. Mayobridge Golf Club is now an 18 Hole Par 67 Course with a thriving membership, plus pay and play and society golfers. Joe who passed away in 2021 aged 91, and his brother Fred who passed in 2024 would be amazed by the new technology now cutting all 18 fairways at Mayobridge.
The next generation, Joe’s two sons Shane and Martin have invested in two Beltronics BigMow Robotic Mowers. The Robots are fully autonomous, cutting all 18 fairways between them. They cut both day and night, in perfectly straight lines, when their battery gets low, they know to head back to base for a charge. Then after charging they return to the exact spot to resume cutting where they left off. As Shane says “the cut quality is better than you get with ride on diesel fairway mowers, the finish is brilliantly level, they are lighter giving less ground compaction especially in wet conditions. We estimate the amount saved in diesel and labour is enough to pay for both robots in three and a half years. The fairways have never looked better, and because the robots mow the borders between fairway and rough exactly the same each time the definition between them looks amazing.”
When it came to naming the two new Robotic mowers of course it was only fitting that they be called Joe and Fred, it was them after all, who first mowed the fairways at Mayobridge.
Shane is so confident in the new technology that he along with the third generation of Fegans, his second oldest son Adam, have started a new company, Crossan Robotics, as the main Northern Ireland Dealer for the BigMow Robots. The robots are not just ideal for Golf Courses they are also Ideal for Sports Pitches, and large grass areas that need to be maintained to a high level. The latest technology is certainly being embraced in Mayobridge.

Newry Chamber shone a spotlight the potential for Newry City to become an eCommerce Hub on the island of Ireland at a half day event in the Canal Court Hotel on Wednesday 9th April, kindly supported by tomorrow.ie, Kukoon Rugs and SJ Henderson Fulfilment.
Over a hundred delegates from local businesses of all shapes and sizes heard from an expert lineup of speakers in a packed programme which included a mix of presentations, fireside chats and a panel discussion.
Over the last 10 years, eCommerce has begun to totally change the consumer landscape in Ireland. Kids toys, food, shoes etc are all incredibly easy to purchase online and it has become the normal way to shop which takes money out of our economy and instead into businesses in GB, Europe and around the world.
One business that has championed eCommerce in Newry is Kukoon Rugs. Clare Vallely, Managing Director of Kukoon Rugs discussed the path taken over the last 20 years to build a global brand from scratch in Newry.
Vallely said: “eCommerce has been a key part of our business’ journey. It runs in parallel to our Newry physical store now located in The Quays offering customers the choice of numerous different ways to shop with us”
From a small sample of Chamber members who responded to a survey at the start of this year, representing around a fifth of membership, of those who responded, 58% said they don't currently have any online trading element to their business and this surprising figure was one of the main reasons that the Chamber organised the event.
How we earn from the eCommerce economy is for more products to be shipped out of Newry than what is being shipped in. If we export more than we import within eCommerce, we create a trade surplus rather than a trade deficit and if we can reach this milestone, then eCommerce becomes a net benefit to the area.
Paul Walsh, Founder of tomorrow.ie delivered a presentation, breaking down eCommerce activity in Newry and how local businesses can get a slice of the pie. Maeve Finnegan, Managing Director of Mitso also delivered an informative presentation on the area of B2B Commerce and how this can help local businesses open a world of new possibilities.
Laura Kearney, Founder & CEO of The Walk in Wardrobe discussed her journey from humble beginnings on the high street in Banbridge to shipping hundreds of thousands of online orders internationally through her eCommerce platform.
Those in the room also heard from a panel of experts on what it takes to run a successful eCommerce operation. The panel included Stephen Henderson from SJ Henderson Fulfilment, Ciaran Connolly from ProfileTree, Siobhan Walsh from Scatter Box and Derek McDonald from BT.
Clicks and Mortar
Edwina Flynn, President of Newry Chamber said: “As a Chamber, we firmly believe eCommerce has a role to play in bolstering bricks and mortar, in complementing our local high street and not to take away from it. We need to change our thinking on this, with an ever-increasing number of businesses transitioning to a ‘clicks and mortar’ model to complement their ‘bricks and mortar’ offering.”
“Newry consumers are spending approximately £19 million on Amazon orders per year, this is a huge amount of local spend not being recirculated within our local economy, which we simply can’t afford to let happen. Local people are already using Amazon daily but if we are open to new possibilities as local businesses, we can compete by offering simple solutions, Click & Collect, next day delivery and implementing a prepayment platform for those operating in the service sector.”
“However, eCommerce has also brought capital into Newry City, from overseas for those who have customised their businesses to it including the likes of Kukoon Rugs and STATSports, eCommerce has brought jobs and export style capital into Newry. It is our strong belief that our city and wider region has the potential to become an eCommerce hub on the island of Ireland due to our strategic location, halfway between Dublin and Belfast and our Dual Market Access to the UK and EU markets.”
Dual Market Access benefits
Paul Walsh, Founder of tomorrow.ie commented: “eCommerce could be the first economic sector to benefit from this region’s Dual Market Access. This event showcased how eCommerce is an ally to traditional retail. We urge all retailers to look to eCommerce as an opportunity.”
“Likewise, we urge government to ensure the creation of substantial programs to ensure eCommerce can flourish. It is clear from this event that key stakeholders in eCommerce and Retail are very willing to come together as a collective group to grow eCommerce and to lead economic change.”
Opportunity
Stephen Henderson, CEO of SJ Henderson Fulfilment added: "It was a privilege to support and participate in Newry Chamber’s event on ‘eCommerce as a Driver of Newry’s Economy’. The energy in the room was palpable, with over 100 local business leaders coming together to share a common vision of positioning the Greater Newry Area as a leading eCommerce hub for the island of Ireland.”
“What struck me most was the alignment, from entrepreneurs to policymakers, around the opportunity that sits on our doorstep. Our city is strategically placed and uniquely equipped to become a logistics and fulfilment gateway between the UK and EU, and the ambition shown by those in the room makes that vision all the more attainable.”
“At SJ Henderson Fulfilment, we are proud to be part of this movement, offering real solutions that support scalable growth for online businesses across Ireland and beyond. Working alongside the Chamber and other stakeholders, we are committed to raising awareness, sharing insights and helping build the infrastructure and knowledge base that will allow Greater Newry to thrive in this space."
