Every day an ordinary day becomes an extraordinary day for someone. People collapse or get hurt and many survive when someone does something. Emergency life support is the set of actions needed to keep someone alive in an emergency until professional help arrives.

ELS skills can be used in a wide range of emergency situations, from choking and serious bleeding to cardiac arrest. By staying calm, acting quickly and applying ELS skills, you can increase a person’s chances of surviving. A very successful ELS course was completed by 6th year students in St. Colman’s over a 6 week period under the guidance of Dr.Mairead Mc Gowan and Nurse Ann Mc Ateer. This is part of an enrichment programme available to senior students in the college affording them the opportunity of living the school vision   ‘Preparing for Life-Pursuing Excellence’
