Ten pupils from St Colman’s College joined pupils from several other schools across Northern Ireland at the Edu Incentive e-skills week launch of the Play Learn Win website (www.playlearnwin.com) at Stormont this week.
The visitors were treated to a tour of Stormont where they took part in a mock debate and used the electronic voting system which our MLA’s use when passing laws, as well as seeing the TV broadcasting systems of the BBC, ITV and RTE within Stormont. The purpose of the visit was to promote STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among our pupils in order to meet the future demands of a world economy. All pupils in Northern Ireland are welcome to sign-up at www.playlearnwin.com and take part in the fun activities hosted there. Prizes such as iPod Nano’s and Nintendo DSi’s can be won throughout March and into April and prize winners may get their own invitation to visit Stormont for the awards ceremony.
