St Malachy's PS Host Colourful Art Exhibition to Mark Anti-Bullying Week

St. Malachy's Primary School at Carnagat have hosted a wonderful vibrant and meaningful art exhibition to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week 2025, embracing this year’s theme: "Power for Good."

The event showcased the creativity and compassion of pupils from every class, who used art to promote kindness, inclusion, and the importance of standing up for others.

Each class explored the work of a renowned artist or artistic style, drawing inspiration to create unique pieces that conveyed powerful messages of empathy and unity.

The exhibition was not only a celebration of artistic talent but also a reflection of the school’s ongoing commitment to promoting and nurturing an inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered.

Proceeds from the sale of student artwork, along with funds raised through a raffle and generous donations, will be donated to theNorthern Ireland Children’s Hospice, supporting vital care for children and families across the region.

The exhibition featured a diverse range of influences, including:

Frida Kahlo – Pupils celebrated Kahlo’s expressive self-portraits and symbolic imagery, creating artworks that highlighted individuality, resilience, and emotional strength.
Romero Britto – Known for his joyful use of colour and bold patterns, Britto’s pop-inspired style encouraged students to produce uplifting pieces that radiated positivity and hope.
Banksy – Inspired by Banksy’s poignant street art, particularly his piece depicting a Syrian child holding a pink balloon, pupils created stencil-based works that challenged injustice and encouraged viewers to protect and uplift the vulnerable.
Pop Art – Drawing from the bold colours and repetition of artists like Andy Warhol, students used this style to amplify messages of friendship, acceptance, and kindness.
Pointillism – This technique, pioneered by Georges Seurat, allowed pupils to explore patience and precision, creating detailed images that symbolised unity through small acts of kindness.
Kelsey Montague – Famous for her interactive murals and uplifting themes, Montague’s influence led to collaborative pieces featuring wings, hearts, and inspirational quotes, inviting viewers to “lift others up.”

St. Malachy's continues their mission to champion creativity and compassion, reminding everyone that the power for good lies in each of us.
