Violinist achievers at Newry High

Newry High School is celebrating the success of four of its young violinists at Portadown Festival.

Leah-Jade Edgar (Year 8), Hannah Kennedy (Year 9), Rebecca Khan (Year 9) and Suzanne Khan (Year 10) beat off competition in the String Ensemble class for Under 14’s to bring home the ‘St. Mary’s High School, Lurgan. Millenium Cup’.

This is a newly formed string ensemble having only been in existence from September 2010 and the girls’ enthusiasm for playing together is to be highly congratulated.

In addition to the ensemble silverware, Suzanne Khan was also awarded third place in her solo class.
