Riddle me this, where is the place to be this weekend?
Easy, it’s Back From The Booley festival in Hilltown – if you like fun, dancing, history, culture, music, rural heritage and tug-o-war.
Back from the Booley is completely unique in its approach to celebrating what's best of the heritage of our countryside, come along and pull flax, gather potatoes, split boulders, pan for gold, visit a matchmaker, listen to Traveller stories around a campfire, have your memories recorded, take part in a documentary and so much more.
There are over 60 free events for all the family and it is guaranteed to blow your socks off, with everything from gathering blackberries to a competition for the best riddle.
One of the highlights is the tug-o-war competition. All the bars are fielding teams for this hard-fought tussle. Passions are up and competitors are already bulking up for this clash of the Titans – at least that’s the word from the women’s teams, never mind the men! If you’re highly competitive and you like a fight to the death, this could be the event for you. Bring your spiked boots.
Back From The Booley is on Friday 23rd – Monday 26th August. See the programme at fliphtml5.com
