a) Comhrá 8: an script

Oibrí

Deas tú a fheiceáil arís, a Bhríd.

Cá bhfuil tú ag dul inniu?

Custaiméir

Deas tusa a fheiceáil fosta, a Chríostóir.

Tá mé ag dul go Doire le mo mhac a fheiceáil.

Oibrí

Sin turas fada.

Níl tú ag teacht ar ais inniu, an bhfuil?

Custaiméir

Níl. Tá mé ag teacht ar ais Dé Sathairn, sílim.

Tá pas agam, creid é nó ná creid!

Oibrí

Nach méanar duit! Anois, ticéad singil mar sin.

Caithfidh tú ticéad eile a fháil i nDoire.

Custaiméir

Tuigim sin.

Oibrí

Seo an ticéad agus seo an admháil.

Tá súil agam go mbeidh am ar dóigh agaibh ansin.

Custaiméir

Go raibh míle maith agat, a Chríostóir.

Feicfidh mé Dé Sathairn thú, b’fhéidir.

Oibrí

B’fhéidir é!

  1. Pointe teanga

Aidiachtaí / adjectives

Sin turas fada

The order of the words is worth noting in sin turas fada / that’s a journey long.

In Irish adjectives follow the noun most of the time. Here are some examples of singular nouns with an adjective.

lá deas

a nice day

bocsa beag

a small box

eochair mhór

a large key

oíche mhaith

(a) good night

  1. Note the séimhiú on the adjectives following eochair and oíche since those nouns are classed as ‘feminine’, are in the singular and are simply being named. Do not worry about terms relating to grammar. The gender of any noun can be checked on focloir.ie or teanglann.ie.Cleachtaí
