Serving a population of 171,500, police will be tasked to 16 injury road traffic collisions, attend 50 violent crimes and respond to 93 incidents of antisocial behaviour. We also look for 8 missing persons. Sometimes they are missing for hours and sometimes for days.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Commander, Superintendent Simon Walls said: “Every week your local police deal with a huge range of crimes and incidents. It’s not just the obvious things like the burglaries and pub fights, people turn to the police for a wide range of reasons . Over the recent bank holiday weekend, as well as the routine, Social Services asked for our help, we attended a sudden death, found 4 missing people and prevented a person taking their own life.
