Write a commentPolice in Newry have arrested two men following the recovery of a quantity of suspected Class A drugs and a number of Royal Mail items.
Officers stopped a Volkswagen Golf car on Craigmore Way around 5.35am on Sunday, 7 April. A search of the vehicle revealed a small quantity of suspected Class A drugs and a number of postal items.
A 24 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and a 35 year old man was arrested for interference with the postal service, possession of criminal property, concealing criminal property, theft, fraud by false representation, wasting police time, obstructing police, making a false declaration and driving with no insurance.
Further searches were conducted in the Parkhead and Carnagat area on Sunday, 7 April.
The two men have been released on bail pending further enquiries and all postal items were returned to Royal Mail.
