Officers have conducted a number of intelligence led searches across the area in an attempt to keep illegal drugs off our streets.
Newry and Mourne Area Commander, Chief Inspector Davy Beck said: "My officers have been very active right across Newry and Mourne in recent days to address the threat posed by illegal drugs on our streets and to our young people.
Officers from the District Tactical Crime Unit, supported by local personnel, conducted a number of searches at addresses across the area and have seized over £12,000 worth of cannabis and over £120 worth of suspected cocaine. "One person was arrested and will appear before Newry Magistrates Court on 17 April 2013.
The 44 year old man is charged with cultivating cannabis, possession of Class B drugs, possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply and dishonestly causing electricity to be abstracted. "The community have expressed a desire to see the police tackle serious crime and drugs related activity and this action again emphasises the commitment of PSNI within Newry and Mourne to deliver on these issues and help make the area a safer place."
