Write a commentDetectives are investigating the death of a man in the Carrivekeeney Road area of Newry earlier today, Thursday 26th July.
The death is being treated as murder by police.
A 27 year old man has been arrested, and is currently in custody assisting with police enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Eamon Corrigan has appealed to anyone with any information which could assist detectives with their enquiries to contact them in Newry on 101.
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
Newry Mourne & Down Council Councillor, Roisin Mulgrew said the death has shocked and stunned the local community in Bessbrook and Camlough and added “My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victim who are trying to come to terms with this terrible news."
