E District's Crime Prevention Officers are advising householders to 'Lighten Up'.
Crime Prevention Officer for Armagh and Newry, Paula Crowe, has relaunched the Lighten Up anti-burglary campaign with the winter months upon us.
Paula explained: "This campaign is about empowering householders to take steps which will lessen their chance of becoming a victim of burglary.
"The message is simple - Leave a light on and keep your home safe and secure. When a house looks occupied it is less likely to be targeted by thieves and burglars.
Other suggestions include:
You can use timer switches to turn lights on when you are out.
Save energy and money with low energy dusk to dawn sensor light bulbs.
Lock windows and doors and keep gates well secured.
Invest in external lighting.
