Write a commentLocal police have made several Drug related arrests in this past two weeks as part of their Operation Torus clampdown.
Following a search at residential premises in the First Avenue area of Newry on the afternoon of Friday 28 February where a quantity of suspected drugs were seized. Officers from E District's Tactical Crime Unit have arrested a 32 year old man on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug, possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of a class A controlled drug with intent to supply. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Police also recovered 72 cannabis plants during the search of a house in the Seaview Heights area of Newry on Tuesday the 4th of March.
A 34 year old was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and possession of Class B drugs.
He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Officers from E District Tactical Crime Unit have charged a 25 year old male with drugs offences.
Police seized five cannabis plants during the search of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 5 March.
A 25 year old man was charged with cultivating cannabis and will appear before Newry Magistrates' Court on 2 April, 2014. As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
Officers have also seized a large quantity of suspected Class C drugs following searches of a property in the St Clares Avenue area of Newry on the 5th of March.
A vehicle and a quantity of drugs including prescription drugs and steroids were seized.
A 41 year old male was arrested for possession of criminal property, and possession of Class C drugs with intent to supply. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.
