Write a commentA car and a bus were struck by stones over the weekend in the Camlough Road area.
Some time between 11.30am on Saturday, 27 July and 11.45am, damage was caused to a Volkswagen Beetle car by persons believed to be throwing stones from the Parkhead area of Newry and a bus was also struck by stone throwers.
Constable Anderson, Newry and Mourne Response, said: "This incident could have had much more serious consequences. Those who are taking part in this type of activity need to appreciate just how dangerous throwing stones at moving vehicles can be. Even a small stone can shatter a windscreen, onstruct the view of the driver and cause a collision that can result in serious injury, or even death.
"I am asking parents to explain the dangers of stone throwing and even the dangers of being so close to such a busy road to your child. Please check on your children, make them check-in with you regularly, and help us avoid a serious tragedy."
