St John Bosco Seniors
St John Bosco 1-14 Carryduff 3-8
After 10 minutes of this game on Friday night things didn't look good for the seniors. The score then was 2-2 to Carryduff and 0-1 to Bosco. The boys were on the end of an absolutely horrendous start as Carryduff scored 2 goals and a point in their first 3 attacks. Despite this fact they dug deep and began chipping away at the lead, bringing the margin down to 4 points by half time. The second half was all Bosco and only for some wasteful shooting the game would have been won. In total the lads kicked 12 wides but had the 'never say die' to continue to eat into the Carryduff lead and get a well deserved point for their efforts.
Next game for the seniors is away to Ballymartin in Glasdrumman next Friday night 14th June at 7.30.
St John Bosco Ladies
Bosco Ladies 6-10 Clonduff Ladies 1-5
Bosco Ladies made it four wins on the trot when they entertained Clonduff at a sunny and somewhat humid Jack Mackin Park. The home team made all the early running from early on and in fairness dominated and with some fine scores and hard tackling the young Newry girls went in at half time with a comfortable lead. Mo Rooney warned his team about complacency at ...half time and urged his team to keep pushing and get the game to bed early on. Clonduff to their credit made a game of it but suffered 2 injuries which left them short on numbers and with 10 minutes remaining the Bosco,s Emma Walsh was taken to hospital with a back injury. Our thoughts are with Emma at this time. With minutes remaining the Bosco forwards slotted over some fine scores. Next up for the girls is an away date with joint top of the table Rostrevor next Saturday night at 7.30pm
This result leaves the Bosco ladies on 15 points level withe Rostrevor .
St John Bosco Gaels
It is with great pleasure and excitement to announce St. John Bosco / Clanyre Gaels will play during Half-Time at the Down v Donegal Ulster Senior Football Championship Semi-Final on Sunday 23rd June in Clones. The team fronted by Ulster Council Coaches Cormac Venny and James McBriar have been assisted by club coaches Mo Rooney and Maria Fox. The Gaels have been training every Monday in the Bosco ...Youth Club and without this facility the team wouldn't have had a chance to train together. Cormac stated that without the use of the Bosco Youth Club and indeed Mo and Maria the chances for this great wee team to play in Clones would never have happened. Cormac went on to thank the staff at the Clanrye Group for the co-operation they have afforded him over the past weeks. Bosco coach Mo Rooney said that the team cant wait to show off the skills they have learnt in front of maybe 15000 GAA fans in Clones and for the team to be donning the Bosco colours will make it an even better day . Lets get behind this wee team as they play in Clones. Well done to all concerned.
St John Bosco U14s
Bosco under 14's travelled to the Kingdom on Monday last for a top of the table clash with An Riocht. The lads knew they were in for a tough game as An Riocht were the only team to have beaten us so far.
An Riocht started the brighter and raced into a 4 point lead before Bosco registered their first point through captain Rory Mc Parland. As the game settled down Bosco came into it more in terms of possession but weren't making it count were it mattered, on the score board, indeed their only other score in the first half was a Kane Rossiter goal. This left it Bosco 1-01, An Riocht 0-10 at half time.
The second half started pretty much the same as the first with An Riocht kicking points from distance. However this Bosco side don't give up easily. Getting quicker ball into the full forward line started to pay dividends with goals from Kane Rossiter(another 3), Ryan Mc Aleavey (4) and James Harkin (2-01) establishing an unassailable lead. An Riocht replied with two goals of their own but the brilliant Bill Finnegan settled things with a goal and a point. A visibly tiring An Riocht couldn't respond to this goal fest to leave the final score Bosco 11-04 to An Riocht's 2-21
St John Bosco U12 Girls
Bosco Under 12 Girls remain unbeaten
Clonduff v Bosco
The Bosco U12 girls travelled to Hilltown on Saturday for a league game with Clonduff and despite being the much stronger team, goals managed to keep the hosts in the game until the end. The please aspect was that five different players scored points including Chloe Quinn, Aine McCabe, Aoibheann Quinn, Nicola Downey, Nicole Cunningham. The score of the match was undoubtedly a fisted point from Nicola Downey in the second half.
At the back Niamh Burns was the player of the match and blocked a certain goal in the final minutes to ensure a draw. Eden Casey, Sarah Gorman and Aime O’Hanlon also had good performances.
The girls now play Saval on Wednesday night 12th June in Jack Mackin Park at 7.30pm

Bosco U12 Girls host Fingallians GAA U12s from Dublin
The u12 girls played an entertaining challenge match against Fingallians GAA recently. The Dublin team proved to be very strong opposition but it was a good test for the girls who remain unbeaten in the Down league. Our visitors were very impressed with St Colmans College and the facilities available and afterwards joined us in the Social Club for some much needed refreshments.
In August it is hoped to bring our u10s to their tournament in Dublin and also play a u12 match on the morning of the Ladies All Ireland Final in September.
