Bosco Senior player Conal Gallagher is playing for the Down U21s in the Ulster Championship against Monaghan in Inniskeen on Wednesday 19th March. All Bosco members are urged to go along and ;lend the royal and amber support to the Down team.
Conal is the latest in a long line of Bosco players who have received their call up to the Down squad and al in the club wish him a long and illustrious career in the Down team.
St Patrick’s Day Parade
The club is again taking part in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade through Newry City – we are asking mentors/players to assemble at the Quays on the day at 11.30am. Let’s make a blue/yellow splash on the day. Pass the word around and urge all players to come along and be proud to represent the club in the parade
Defib Training
Maria Fox is presently organising DEFIB TRAINING & REFRESHER TRAINING for club mentors. It is vitally important that there is at least one mentor with each team trained in the use of the defib
Heart Health Checks
The club’s annual Heart Health Checks for players (Under 14+) has been organised for TUESDAY 8TH APRIL in the Social Club. This is a very important screening test for players - if you need more information please contact Paul O’Connor
Gaelic For Mothers
Gaelic4Mothers&Others (G4M&O,s) training continues every Thursday night in the Barcroft Community Centre from 7-8pm. All women over the age of 18 are very welcome to join the St John Bosco Club – only pre-requisite is as long as you haven’t played competition football in the past year for another team. G4M&O,s is a non-competitive sport played in a fun, friendly and relaxed manner. If you would like to join please just come along and you will be made to feel right at home. Irish News schools competition
Don’t forget we’re continuing our partnership and supporting our local Primary Schools so please cut out the tokens from the Irish News and leave them with John in the club.
Club Registrations- Reminders
Just over half of all players and club members are registered! We are depending on team mentors to follow-up on those who have not completed a Registration Form. If players get injured during training or games they are not covered by insurance if they are not registered with the club. Just because a player is representing the club does not mean that they are automatically registered for insurance purposes. As a matter of urgency please check which players are not officially registered with the club
U12’s 2014 League
The U14 leagues will commence on Mon 7th April finishing end of June. Championship(Round Robin) starting end of July through to September.
St John Bosco U14’s are drawn with Longstone, Baileglas, Newry Mitchels, Glenn & Drumgath in Division 3.
U12’s First Game of 2014
This Sunday sees the U12’s turning out against St Peter’s Warrenpoint in their first game of the 2014 season. The match due to be played in Jack Mackin Park has a throw in time of 11:00 a.m. and will provide the team mentors Peadar Gallagher, David McNulty, Kevin Hughes, Hugh Gray and Paul McCormack with an ideal opportunity to see the benefits of the winter training programme which took place in St Colman’s College on the 3G pitch.
U12’s 2014 League
U12 league will commence in May and sees St John Bosco in the company of Longstone, Atticall, Baileglas, An Riocht, Rostrevor and Newry Mitchels.
U8’s and U10’s
P3/4(2nd Saturday of month) and P5/6(4th Saturday of the month) blitzes will commence in April running through to September.
Down County Board Presentation February
Having heard the great news at the end of 2013 Saturday night was pay night in Paírc Esler for Cumann Naomh Eoin Bosco.

U12 player Pól Óg MacCormac had the honour of turning out in the Down colours at half time in the Saturday night Down vs Louth national league game.
Persistent rain and a heavy pitch didn’t dampen the enthuasism of these young players as they relished playing front of a packed stand in Pairc Esler. The 18 young players were representing their clubs and were drawn from all over the county from Carryduff,
