Down U14 Girls are Ulster Champions

For the first time Down won the Ulster U14 Blitz on Saturday to be crown Ulster champions beating Monaghan 1.05 to 1.03 in the final.   The three Bosco girls, Orlagh Burke, Sarah O'Hanlon and Aoibheann Quinn all played their part in this outstanding success.
Aoibheann scored 1:03 against Fermanagh and 1:01 against Antrim during the league stages. 

U12 Girls 

St John Bosco vs St Brides

The U12 girls played an excellent challenge match on Sunday in St Colman’s 3G against St Brides from Co Louth with over 35 girls getting to play and develop their skills in a very competitive game played in the correct spirit. Many thanks to our visitors for travelling down.


U16 Girls 

St John Bosco vs Rostrevor

The U16 girls earned a hard fought victory against Rostrevor in their league match played today in Jack Mackin Park with a scoreline of 3:06 to 2:06. The Rostrevor team pushed to the very end to level the match.
The girls were 4 points to 1 down at half time but played an excellent second half with Sinead O'Hare and Aoife Jackson dominating midfield.
The Bosco scorers were; Nicole Osborne 2:01; Dearbhala Quinn 1:03; Aoibheann Quinn 0:01; Sinead O'Hare 0:01

Shauna Hickey, Alex Shortall and Cliona Doherty defended resolutely in the game assisted by the Down County u16 goalkeeper Roisin Kelly. The team was also served well by five u14 players, Orlagh Burke, Aine McCabe, Sarah O’Hanlon, Rachel Hanna and Aoibheann Quinn who were excellent. Vicky Grattan, Niamh McCullagh and Dearbhla McGovern all put in huge efforts to secure the win

Gaelic4Mothers Mud Run!

The Bosco Gaelic4Mothers travelled deep into the heart of County Down to take part in the 1st ever Aughlisnafinn Mud Run.


Mo Rooney and 17 of his very brave ladies endured what could be called Hell on Earth to complete the course but most important laughed the whole way round. From the very start the knee deep mud caught the team out with a few running shoes being temporarily lost but after some tightening of laces the team quickly moved on the scale a number of tricky obstacles and barriers.


The ladies laughter could be heard all around the course mainly directed at Mo who was being systematically targeted by his team and soon the Bosco G4M coach was weighing 4 stone heavier with the amount of muck and dirt he had gathered.


One of the highlights of the course was the tunnel slides into a freezing mud filled river which was quickly followed by 3 barrel dams in the same foul smelling water but everyone got over the obstacles without much bother.
After a gruelling 45 minutes of running, wadding, crawling, jumping and fighting through the muck and dirt the Bosco team made it to the finish line slightly dirtier than when they started the run.


After a well-deserved hot shower and refreshments courtesy of the folks from the "Finn" the Bosco ladies made their way back to the Social Club for some much needed refreshments.
Well done to Mo and his ladies and many thanks to Aughlisnafinn for their magnificent organisation.

Congratulations to Chris and Kathryn Quinn on receiving awards for 200 hours volunteer work they have both done in the Club.

Coffee Morning 29th March

Eimear O’Hare is holding a Coffee Morning in the club on 29th March, raising funds for Friends of Africa – make sure you support this worthy cause.

Heart Health Checks

The club’s annual Heart Health Checks for players (Under 14+) has been organised for TUESDAY 8TH APRIL in the Social Club. This is a very important screening test for players - if you need more information please contact Paul O’Connor
