The City Strikers Special Olympics Ten Pin Bowling Club have once again come up trumps at the Regional (Ulster) Games held in Dundonald last month.
The team came home with three gold medals and one bronze medal along with a further nine ribbons. The next stage is competing in the National Games where we hope to have a number of athletes representing Newry and Mourne. Having had representatives from the Club competing in the World Games in that past, City Strikers are confident of more medals in the future.
City Strikers Ten Pin Bowling Club is celebrating their tenth anniversary this year after forming following the Special Olympics World Games in Dublin in 2003. They were the first Special Olympics Sports Club in Newry and Mourne and have a well established team of athletes, coaches and volunteers.
The club are holding their annual ten pin bowling fundraising event on Tuesday 26th March and, to mark their 10th anniversary, and they want to make this event the biggest and best one yet. The night is always guaranteed to be great craic.
City Strikers are inviting local businesses to join in with the spirit of Special Olympics, using the power of sport in the spirit of giving and teamwork in order to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.
Entry fee for a team of 6 players is £100 and bowling begins at 7:15pm, with further sessions at 8:30 and 9:30.
Team Bann Taxi again walked away again with the top prize last year, can they do it again this year, or does your team have what it takes to become number 1?
