Festival Weekend
Thomas Davis hosted a great weekend of entertainment at the Newry Town Hall venue, beginning on the Friday Night. Local Boxing club Sacred Heart ABC took on an All Ireland select side with some great bouts ranging from juniors to the heavy weight contests but the highlight of the night was recently crowned All Ireland champion Conor Wallace take on his opponent from the All Saints club in Belfast. Conor won his fight on an unanimous decision much to the delight of the large crowd in attendance.
On the Saturday night we hosted 2 world champions Eric Bristow & Keith Deller in a fantastic nights entertainment as the 2 former world champions took on 20 local players on stage. Corrinshego was well represented on stage with our darts players Liam and Noel Bradley both getting the better of both Bristow and Deller. Also our club Treasurer Frank Harvey was called up as a late replacement against Bristow and although getting to his double first just lost out to the former champion.
We would like to thank everybody especially our club members, players both underage & senior who helped out and who came along to support this venture which proved to be a great success.

Páirc Imeartha Nua / New Playing Pitch
There has been massive progress at the new playing pitch in the last few weeks. Club volunteers have been extremely busy with the front entrance layout, landscaping & front fencing which is now taking great shape. On the first pitch the main lower drainage channels are now fitted which had to be literally chipped out of granite bedrock, an extremely difficult, timely and costly operation. The contractor is now laying the lower topsoil level getting ready for the next layer of drainage and finally the sand top layer.
Kellogg’s Cùl Camps

Corrinshego v Forkhill
This was one of the best displays by a Thomas Davis Corrinshego U-10 team in years when they competed man for man against a very well drilled and organised Forkhill outfit. Played in blistering sunshine the young Thomas Davis team fought for every ball and tackled as if their lives depended upon it.
It a much changed outfit from last week, with sickness ruling out both A. Travers, J. Heatley and the 2 Browne siblings, Corrinshego with Oran Fox and Ronan Casey dominated midfield. Sean Dowdall was confident and reliable in nets while his brother Emmett improves with each game. At half time Corrinshego lead 1-1 to 0-2 with the goal coming from debutant Thomas McGarry and the other two points from Ronan Casey. In the second half Ronan added another point while Dean Bradley chipped in with 0-2. Both Caoimhe Mallon and Holly Loye nevrer gave up while in the half – back the ever reliable Jarlath Jennings and Michael Mallon played their part. Danny Shields had his best ever game in a Corrinshego jersey.This was a great contest with Corrinshego holding out for a 1-5 to 1-4 win.

Tomas Davis Corrinshego v Whitecross
Played on a Sunny Sunday morning the young Corrinshego team acquitted themselves very well against an organised and well disciplined Whitecross team. The game started brightly with Ronan Casey and Danny Shields performing well in midfield. New recruit Sean Dowdall looked both comfortable and secure under the high ball in the Thomas Davis’ goals. Ronan Casey scored 4 point in the first half and always looked dangerous on attack. Both Caoimhe Mallon and Holly Loye tried hard throughout and subs Lucy Browne and Caitlin Mackey made a significant contribution. Ryan Byrne made his competitive debut in the famed maroon and white of Corrinshego and young Katie O’Brien made her first appearance for the U-10’s.

Another win for the u12's today against St. Joseph's.
St. Joseph's Started the game on top with a succession of scores to give them a good lead within the first 10 mins of the half. Corrinshego fought back well against a strong breeze with the Mallon brothers Oisin and Caolan getting a goal each to us back into the game and get the ball rolling. St. Joseph's remained on top with some nice football and good long range points. Captain Conor Lenagh stepped us his game and show it with a commanding run through the middle and taking a clinical long range point. Our pacey Forward Jonjo show his quality by rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into an empty net. Top marksman Niall Hogan keep his tally flowing with a well taking goal to end the half.
St. Joseph's started the second strong with a number of well goals and points to get them back into the game. Corrinshego finally got to grips with the game especially in midfield, with Ronan casey winning the majority of the ball to keep the ball in the oppositions half which led to points from Conor Lenagh and Jonjo. Oisin Mallon kept him calm to kick over from a free. Again Niall Hogan popped up with another goal to take us into the lead. Corrinshego's defence held strong with some excellent tackling from man of the match Dean Bradley. And Jarlath Jennings was at his usual self making his surging runs from full back through the heart of the St. Joseph's defence and taking 2 points to cap of a good win for the team.
Player of the week was Dean Bradley. Out of position today but stepped up and put in excellent display in defence.

Clady Emmetts v Corrinshego 4-9 2-15
This was the first game for Corrinshego's u14 boys since the amalgamation of the leagues, (whereby the top teams in the north and south divisions combine to play a higher standard of football) and we always knew it was going to be a tight affair, especially after a first half that saw the young Corrinshego side trail Clady 1-10 to 1-3.
However it was a second half full of pride and honesty that saw the boys dig deep and drag themselves back into this game. A quick goal by Adam Loughran at the beginning of the second half signalled their intent to get back on top of their rivals and this was followed by a stunning goal from Conor Jennings who weaved through the exceptionally tall Clady back line to fire a great goal. This was followed by another fine goal from fellow midfielder Ryan Gray to put the Corrinshego lads in front but Clady returned with a goal of their own to draw level. Adam Loughran put the boys back in front with a well taken free only for the opposition to draw level again. Conor Jennings floated over another point in injury time but Clady soon went ahead with two quick points but it was vice captain Loughran who stepped up at the end to salvage a draw from a game that they could've won but one which saw them grab an important result from a game which looked lost at half time.

Ladies Football / Peil na mBan
The girls headed away to Clonmore on Sunday past and came up against a strong team. The girls battled hard and were rewarded with some fine scores from Nicole McCann and a well worked goal from Danielle mcchlorey. In defence Laura Lesniak was superb and colleenloye was as ever outstanding. All the girls gave their all and cannot be faulted for effort. Clonmore ran out deserved winners.
The girls took on pearse og on Sunday at the club grounds. The game was thoroughly entertaining between two evenly matched teams and enjoyed by the good crowd that came out to watch. Pearse og ran out eventual winners but the girls played some lovely football and were unlucky to lose this game. Colleen loye and aine mcQuillan along with Laura Lesniak were outstanding at the back and Dearbhla Kearns put in a hard shift in midfield. Nicole McCann put in a great performance with four points aided with scores by Danielle mcchlorey and Siobhan McKinley. This was a good performance by the girls who are improving week by week.well done.
On a hot evening on Tue night the girls took on tir na nog at the club grounds. It was an exciting encounter as both teams matched each other score for score. At the short whistle both teams came in level 0-4 to 1-1. As the second half progressed it was more of the same , score for score until we reached the final minute when the away team got a soft free which they converted to win the game by a point 0-8 to 1-6. This was a superb game of football and the girls deserved at least a point.

Carraig Chropain 1-11 Tomás Dáibhis 0-09
Thomas Davis under 16s had a tough assignment at Carrickcruppen last Thursday. Our team was depleted due to a few injuries but the younger lads who came in gave a great account of themselves. We started the strongest and raced into a 0-3 to 0-01 lead with some fine scores from play from Lee Courtney & Declan Loye. In defence Dean Faloon & Conor Jennings were having a super games, first to the ball every time and from here we used this as a great source to launch our attacks were the home side were fouling our lads to stopping our normal running game but on the night we found it hard to convert these frees which somehow gave the home side hope as they chipped away at our lead leaving both sides going in at halftime with only one between them 0-06 to 0-05.
On the restart we hit the equaliser from Lee Courtney, a great long range effort. It was end to end football with both sides going hard for scores but it was the home side who nipped in for the games only goal which in the end proved crucial as our lads tried hard to regain the lead but on the night we couldn’t convert our chances. Caolan Marron entered the game with 10 minutes to go and although carrying an injury tried hard but it wasn’t our night as the home side finished the game off with 2 points from frees to leave it 1-11 to 0-09 in their favour.

Thomas Davis Corrinshego 2-11 Killean 2-7
Played in blistering heat with the temperature gage in the car recording 21 Degrees Celsius, the Corrinshego juggernaut keeps on moving after hard fought game in Killean.
Thomas Davis opened their account with a point by Ryan O’Reilly from a free after the impressive James Dinsmore wa fouled. Three minutes later Killean equalised from a free, only for Ryan Mc Williams to push Corrinshego into the lead with a fantastic long range effort. Moments later Ryan O’Reilly pointed from a 21m free after Liam Quinn was fouled. L. Quinn was fouled again on 18mins, but unfortunately the R. O’Reilly effort went wide. On 22mins Shane McArdle increased the lead for the Newry men after being set up by J. Dinsmore. Killean pulled a point back only for L. Quinn to point after great work by S.McArdle and C. Trainor to leave the score 0-5 to 0-2. Deaghlan Jenning pulled on the ball in a goalmouth scramble to see his shot sail over the bar to increase the lead to 0-6 to 0-2. St. Michael’s responded by scoring the next two point to leave the half –time score 0-6 to 0-4 in favour of Corrinshego.
On the resumption Corrinshego’s Ryan Mc Williams point to stretch the lead. On 35 mins D. Lenaghan hit the back of the net to give Corrinshego a 1-7 to 0-4 lead. In the next 12 minutes Killean scored 1-3 with only a Ryan O’Reilly point in between, to leave it 1-8 to 1-7 in favour of Corrinshego.. Liam Quinn was causing endless problems in the Kilean back-line and was hauled down on the 51mins only for R. O’Reilly to point the free. Moments later substitute David Murphy hammered the ball to the Killean net after being set up with a great pass by Ryan O’Reilly. However , Killean responded with a goal of their own, but this was the last score that Corrinshego conceded. David Murphy and Paul Heatley added to the total to leave the score 2-11 to 2-7 in favour of the Newry men. Overall this was two hard earned points. D. McGreevy had a great game apart from a ‘tiny’ lapse of concentration. A concern would be the wide count, especially in the second halt were we shot 9 wides in total. In conclusion Corrinshego are still undefeated and not many teams in the county can say that!!

Thomas Davis Corrinshego 1-11 Clady 0-10
Played on a fine sunny Friday evening on the eve of our Festival in Newry Town Hall Corrinshego maintained their winning run with a hard earned victory over a battling Clady side. The Newry side opened their account in the opening minute with a point from the foot of Cathal Trainor. On the 7th minute Clady equalised and went in front on 10mins 0-1 to 0-2. Liam Quinn equalised on 13mins and David Lenaghan struck a sweet effort to take the lead. Clady started to take the upper hand and scored the next three points to lead by 06-03. In between this Karl Kimmins pulled off a good save and Mark McAteer saved the ball from crossing the Thomas Davis goal-line.
On the restart Corrinshego started positively and introduced Deaghlan Jennings and Shane McArdle and L.Quinn reduced the arrears when he was set up by R. McWilliams on 31mins. L. Quinn responded with another point on 33mins. Clady extended their lead again only for P. Finnegan to score a fine point. On the 40min Ryan O’ Reilly pointed a free after L.Quinn was hauled down. Corrinshego were dealt a severe blow when Conor Loye went off injured and was replaced by Mark Bradshaw. On 43 mins Ryan O’Reilly’s goal bound effort was saved for a 45m and the resultant 45 dropped short to Deaghlan Jennings who pointed Corrinshego’s 10th point of the evening. On 41mins Cathal Trainor scored a fine point after being set up by Shane Mc Ardle. On 50 minutes Deaghlan Jenning pounced on a goalmouth scramble to finish to the back of the Clady net. P. Finnegan finished the scoring with a point from a free to leave the score 1-11 to 0-10 in favour of Corrinshego.
